What is Surah Al-Fatihah about?

The Opening. We praise Allah and ask Him to guide us on the straight path. We read it in every prayer! Surah Al-Fatihah (The Opener) is surah number 1 of the Quran, a Makki surah of 7 ayat in the first juz. It is the very first surah in the Noor Garden memorization path.

    بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

    In the name of Allāh, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

  2. 2

    ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

    [All] praise is [due] to Allāh, Lord of the worlds -

  3. 3

    ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

    The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

  4. 4

    مَـٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ

    Sovereign of the Day of Recompense.

  5. 5

    إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ

    It is You we worship and You we ask for help.

  6. 6

    ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ

    Guide us to the straight path -

  7. 7

    صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

    The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have earned [Your] anger or of those who are astray.

How to memorize Surah Al-Fatihah

  1. Listen: press “Start learning” and listen to Mishary Alafasy recite Surah Al-Fatihah three times while following the Arabic text.
  2. Practice each ayah: in Practice mode every ayah repeats ×3, ×5 or ×7 with an echo pause, so your child says it back out loud.
  3. Memorize levels: each level hides more words until your child can recite the whole surah from memory.
  4. Puzzles: put the words of each ayah back in order to check the memorization, then review it tomorrow before starting the next surah.
