“Don't Get Angry” – Hadith for Kids
Self-control · Ages 5–11
In this hadith a man asked the Prophet ﷺ for advice, and he answered, "Don't get angry," again and again. For children, it means: when something upsets you, don't let anger take over. Pause, seek refuge in Allah, stay calm and speak gently, because angry words and actions often lead to regret.
The hadith
A man asked the Prophet ﷺ: "Give me advice." He said: "Don't get angry." The man asked again and again, and each time he said: "Don't get angry."

What it teaches
Anger can make us say or do things we regret, so the Prophet ﷺ taught us to stay calm.
A little story to help understand it
This is an illustrative example we wrote to explain the meaning. It is not part of the hadith.
Aisha's little brother scribbled on her drawing. She felt her face get hot and wanted to tear his paper too. Then she remembered the advice the Prophet ﷺ repeated: "Don't get angry." She said, "A'udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim," sat down and counted to ten. When she felt calmer, she explained to her brother, "Please ask before you draw on my paper." He said sorry and gave her a new sheet. Later, they drew a picture together. Aisha was glad she hadn't done something she would regret.
