“Thanking People” – Hadith for Kids

Gratitude · Ages 5–11

This hadith teaches children that thanking people is part of thanking Allah. When parents cook for us, teachers help us or friends share with us, we should say "thank you" or "JazakAllahu khayran". Someone who forgets to thank people is also forgetting to be truly grateful to Allah, who sent that help.

A little story to help understand it

This is an illustrative example we wrote to explain the meaning. It is not part of the hadith.

Yasin's mother made his favourite lentil soup after a long day. Yasin ate quickly and ran off to play. Then he remembered the hadith about thanking people. He came back to the kitchen and said, "JazakAllahu khayran, Mama, the soup was delicious!" His mother smiled a big smile. The next day, Yasin thanked the school guard who opened the gate and the friend who lent him a pencil. He noticed that everyone looked happier, and he said "Alhamdulillah" in his heart for all the people Allah had put around him.
